Visiting The Land Of Giants At Singapore Zoo!

If you are stuck for ideas of what to do with the children this summer, why not visit The Land of Giants at Singapore Zoo? If you haven’t heard about this exposition before, then let us tell you that a part of the park has been dedicated to larger than life sized invertebrates, blown up in all their glory so you and your family can take a closer look.   There are over 60 3D models of spiders, mantis, nymphs, butterflies and bees. It’s not just for fun though, there is also plenty of information on hand to learn how these creatures contribute to our eco-system and how without them, we just couldn’t manage.   Some of the creatures on display are orchid mantises, net casting spiders, stalk eyed flies, lime butterflies and thorn bugs. If these models aren’t enough to pique your curiosity, then head on over to the Little Beast Encounters. Beginning at 11am, and with shows at 1.30pm and 4.00pm, your little ones can get up close and personal with real-life insects. From giant cockroaches to caterpillars, you can touch, hold and learn more about these creepy-crawlies.   If this isn’t enough then you can also have a go on the Bug Explorer Trail. This is a great opportunity for children to learn more about insects and their habitats and habits. Once the trail is completed, your children will receive Magic Goggles to be able to spot those harder to see bugs.   Once you have visited The Land of Giants, you can take the shuttle bus to other wildlife parks, such as Jurong Bird Park. This is a great place to visit with children, as they can enjoy plenty of hands-on experience, such as The Lory Loft and The High Flyers Show. Importantly, children can learn about the conservation efforts that have taken place in order to preserve endangered species of birds, like the black-winged myna.   Opening hours for both parks are from 8.30am-6.00pm with last entry at 5.30pm. Tickets cost S$88 for adults and S$68 for kids, if you buy a ParkHopper Plus, which gives entry to all four parks, including Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, and River Safari. It also includes admission to rides, like the carousel. You can also buy a 2-Park admission, for S$68 for adults and S$48 for kids. Single tickets for the Zoo cost S$35 for adults and S$23 for kids. For the bird park, tickets are S$30 for adults and S$20 for children.
