Fix Up, Look Sharp: The Best Tailors In Hong Kong

Getting a bespoke suit does not have to cost the earth. In fact, Hong Kong has one of the largest concentrations of low-cost suit makers in the world. From monogrammed shirts to designer copies, there are dozens of tailors and suit-makers to fit your style, needs and budget. Here is our list of the best, combining high-quality with value. Be wary of backstreet tailors who may charge pennies but will likely give you a suit that does not fit. Choose wisely and you will have an item that should last for a long time. Punjab House

This tailors was originally the tailor for Hong Kong’s colonial officers, as well as the British military. With over 100 years of suit-making experience, Punjab House has outfitted everyone from celebrities to the Duke of Kent. They have partnered frequently with Apsley Tailors in London and can sometimes be found doing tours of the US and Europe. Their tailor Arshad Mahmood is an industry legend and whilst suits here don’t come cheap, you can guarantee that you are in the best of company.   Flat C, 5/F, Golden Crown Court, 66-70 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Jim’s Tailor Workshop

Jim’s is not quite as celebrity focused as Punjab House, and from it’s window display, you would be forgiven for thinking that Jim’s is more  backstreet than influencer in the tailoring world. However, many of Hong Kong’s most influential families order their suits here and you will find that once you purchase, your attire will last for a very long time. The staff are knowledgeable and their service is one of the best, as they have managed to straddle the line of expertise without being pushy.   Shop 37-38, 1/F, Admiralty Centre, 18 Harcourt Centre, Admiralty. Raja Fashions

Many have argued that this is Hong Kong’s most famous tailor. Their well-cut suits at low prices mean that Raja dominates many of the media outlets in Hong Kong when you begin looking for a tailor. Raja Fashions have dressed notables from all over the world and the quality more than matches up to the price. You can also take advantage of the myriad of discounts and offers available here.   30-32 Cameron Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Sam’s

Sam the Tailor is another of Hong Kong’s most well-known tailors and has dressed Pavarotti and Bill Clinton to name but a few. There was a time that Sam’s had rather a bad reputation for only giving the best service to celebrities and other high-ranking members of society, but now that has changed and you can guarantee great service and an incredibly relaxed atmosphere.   94 Nathan Road, Burlington Arcade, Tsim Sha Tsui   Remember, when visiting a tailors for the first time, be aware that the price advertised may not be the final price that you pay. This will all depend on the material you opt for, the cut, and also how fast you want the suit made. It is perfectly acceptable to haggle, so make sure that you know how much you are willing to pay.
